Tue Jan 27: Tuesday A wet and windy morning across Ireland, England and Wales
with heavy periods of rain. Further rain in southern Scotland, with
drizzle and patchier rain in eastern Scotland. Only the far northwest
of Scotland starting dry. Some brighter weather reaching southwest
England. Severe gales in exposed areas. The rain marching northeast
and east during the morning and afternoon with rain turning to snow
over the hills of central and eastern Scotland as well as the tops
of the Pennines for a time. Drier weather for inland areas of England
and Wales, a few sunny spells developing in Wales and the Midlands.
However, heavy showers along southern and western coasts and hills,
penetrating further inland and some being heavy. Frequent, heavy,
squally showers and severe gales in Ireland. Winds easing in England
and Wales but gales remain in Scotland. Tops at 4C in northern Scotland,
a milder 9C in southern England.
