Fri Jan 30: Saturday More rain in eastern Scotland today, most of it showery and falling as sleet or snow over high ground in central and eastern Scotland. Heavy showers in Wales and southwest England as well as Ireland. Plenty of cloud around too with gale force winds in Wales and eastern Ireland. A few brighter spells in the east. This afternoon sees more heavy showers or longer spells of rain through the Midlands, Wales and southern England as well as northwest England. Rain still falling in central and eastern Scotland, showers in the south and some snow over high ground. Brighter and drier in Ireland and the far southwest of England as well as northwest Scotland. Highs at 10C in the far south of England, 5C in eastern Scotland.
